At Penticton Dentures by Design, we use our experience to prepare complete dentures for our clients. Complete dentures are a removable device that replaces all the teeth in your upper or lower jaws. We provide both conventional and immediate dentures in Penticton, both of which are types of complete dentures. When you contact us, we will provide you with a denture consultation. This means that our team will help you find the right dentures for your needs. To further your convenience and make the entire process that much easier, we work with most insurance companies to offer direct insurance billing.
Immediate dentures are complete dentures that are fabricated of acrylic material prior to the extraction of your natural teeth and then are inserted “immediately” following removal. Because they generally have limited function and esthetics, they are usually considered to be a transitional denture. They require a lot of post-insertion adjustment and in most cases they need to be repeatedly refit with temporary reline material for up to 9 months. After 9 months, the temporary material needs to be removed and the dentures are relined.
Conventional Dentures are fabricated for gums that have already healed (which takes approximately six-to-eight weeks). With no teeth present, there are more steps to the measuring of your jaw relations and the types of impressions taken. Conventional dentures are much more sophisticated, with superior esthetics and function. Due to excessive gum shrinkage (that is common to all post-extraction patients), these dentures still may need to be relined within the first year.
Precision equilibrated dentures are customized to function in the most natural way possible. Very precise measurements of the movements of your jaw ensure that the dentures will function with much greater efficiency than standard dentures.
Standard non-equilibrated dentures do not take advantage of the latest technology for fabricating dentures and tend to have greater limitations in diet and esthetics.
